Blend using a command similar to other programs to save your work and open up with a few exceptions. Blender can use the "Open" command to open Blender (. Blend) file and the command "Append or Link" to bring the elements of a Blender file Blender file to another. Open command can be used to re-import VRML files (. WRL) and. DXF from other programs. This is a generic file extentions exchange where the majority of the program can work with it. Blender also has the option of Export and Import in the File menu.
When you first start working with Blender, it seems almost impossible to figure out how to save your work. File Blender interface almost resembles MS-DOS. In addition, every time you save a file that already exists, the file had previously been a back-up file and saved with a new extension (. Blend1). It always gives a back-up in case of problems. Here is what you see when you hit the save command:
When you need to insert elements from one Blender file (. Blend) Blender file to another, you need to use the Append command files or links from the pull-down menu. While in Append, you need to navigate to the file you want to insert Blender, and select what you want to add to the open file. You can add anything from cameras, lights, meshes, materials, textures, scenes and objects. Generally we use the Object option. By adding the object, any materials, textures and animations associated with the object will be automatically carried over to her. Click the right mouse button (RMB) on the object to select \ deselect them. Typing "A" will select them all. After you select all the objects to be added, click the "Load Library" in the upper right corner of the screen.
Link option allows you to link to other Blender files rather than insert it into the open file. This option allows to connect the changes to the file to be updated automatically when another file is opened.
